We’re all born with a creative spark, one of God’s greatest gifts to his children. As children, we love to draw, sculpt with clay, write stories. . .

Forget that you’re stressed by work and/or family issues. Don’t be hampered by not having time to indulge yourself by being "artistic". Forget that at age six someone thought your crayon sketch of a dinosaur was a dog or your story was stupid.

Take time to rekindle that spark. The Artist’s Way, by Julia Cameron, helped me fan my own creative flame.

Write stories, songs, poetry. Sing, sculpt, carve. Rubber stamp a greeting card, stencil a border, sew a rag doll. Paint a plate, bake bread, grow violets. Capture memories with a camera or take up the art of scrapbooking. Draw cartoons. Ice a cake. Play an instrument. Keep a daily journal. Dance.

By tending this essential part of your soul, you’ll feel less stress. Intoxicating energy always flows from your inner well of creativity. You may not have the desire to pen a best seller, but your creativity will positively affect your family, friends and those in your community. Whether you design gift baskets or window treatments, bake cookies or preserve memories in a scrapbook, you’re doing something special—both for yourself and for others. Creativity is vital to wellbeing. Cherish, nurture this unique part of your soul.

God’s blessings as you travel your personal artistic path.
